CAURNIE ANGLING CLUB RULES 9.3.11

These rules are binding on all anglers. Acceptance of a permit constitutes an agreement to obey the rules. Ignorance of the rules will not be accepted as a reason for breaking them. The decision of the Committee in respect of the Rules and any penalties for breaches of them is final. At the loch, Club Committee Members are the sole arbiters of the rules. Anglers are expected to: ‘Fish with courtesy and in the spirit of the rules’.

Fishing Rules:
1 Fishing on the Club’s waters opens on 15th March and closes on 6th October inclusive.
2 Fishing is prohibited on competition days (see Membership Card) prior to the competition starting.
3 Membership Cards, Club Identification Cards and permits must be carried when fishing Antermony Loch.
4 Before fishing, all Members must fill in the fishing log in the Lodge. After fishing they must complete this entry.
5 Access to Antermony Loch is only by recognised roads, gates, paths and stiles.
6 Anglers must not pollute the club’s land and waters. All rubbish must be taken away. Fires are forbidden.
7 Fishing shall be restricted to a single rod and line per person, with not more than four flies.
8 All baits, floats and spinners are prohibited. (See Rule 12 for an exception)
9 Trout, less than 10” long, from the snout to the fork in the tail, must be returned unharmed to the water.
10 The daily bag limit is: 4 trout, of which no more than two may be rainbow trout.
11 Only thigh-waders and waist-waders, not rolled down chest-waders, are permitted.
12 Junior members under 12 years old, must be accompanied by a Voting Member, at all times, and are
permitted to fish from a boat, when accompanied by a parent Member. They may fish using a spinning rod
and reel, with one treble hook on a Mepp type spinner. Releasing fish caught on a spinner is forbidden.
13 Junior Members in boats must wear a buoyancy-aid, or lifejacket and be accompanied by a Voting Member.
14 Day-Permit anglers are expected to fish from the bank and have no right of access to the boats or buildings.Boats:
15 If, when using a boat, you are called to the bank, by a member who is allocated it by the Boat-Plan, you
must surrender the boat immediately. Members may obtain permission, to use another member’s boat.
16 Two rods are allowed to fish from a boat. A third person may row the boat.
17 The following are prohibited: tying up to buoys or other boats, anchoring, trolling (prolonged trailing of flies
behind a propelled boat), fishing from the punt, studded footwear in boats, petrol motors, float tubes and
personal boats.
18 Members in boats must not fish within thirty yards of bank anglers.
19 Outboards must not be used to hold station and powered boats must give way, at all times, to rowed/drifting boats.
20 Boats must be left clean and tidy after use and all rubbish taken away.
21 When in boats, anglers are advised to wear a buoyancy-aid or lifejacket.
22 Boats must not be used in very high winds.

General Rules:
23 Members shall challenge any persons suspected of illegal fishing or call the police.
24 All members may ask to inspect other angler’s permits, ID, catch and fishing tackle, and this may not be refused.
25 Anglers must ensure that gates, sheds and the boats are secured and locked, immediately after use.
26 Anglers must not interfere with any plant or equipment unless authorised by the Committee.
27All anglers shall have regard for the safety of themselves and others.
28 All persons using the Club’s boats and facilities do so at their own risk. The Club will accept no liability for
injury, damage or theft, occurring on the Club’s property, equipment or access roads.
29 Incidents involving personal injury or damage to property must be reported immediately to the Club Secretary. .

Guests:
30 Voting Members may purchase up to ten Guest-Permits per season and are limited to two Guests pe day.
They must accompany their Guest(s) at all times and use the same boat. Members must advise their Guests
of the rules and are accountable for their actions and behaviour.
31 Guest-Permits may be purchased from, and filled in by a Committee Member prior to fishing. For
convenience, Members may use Day-Permits for guests, but must pay the full price.

Competition Rules:
1 The Club’s Rules shall apply unless stated below.
2 The Committee Members present shall decide the conduct and result of a competition.
3 Only members duly signed-in may fish the loch during a competition.
4 Competitions shall usually be fished from the bank and start at 2pm. Finish time will be decided on the day.
5 At Club competitions, a limit of 8 fish, including no more than two rainbow trout, may be killed by a competitor.
6 Competitors shall allow mobile anglers to fish through.
7 All cups and trophies are the property of the Club and must be returned at the end of the season.
8 Junior Competitions: Committee Members present may vary Rules, to take into account the children’s abilities.
